Rise of the Numbers

Created for Trijam #266 by Averiumand Arek96in roughly 4 hours!

The Even Numbers are attacking!

Your goal is to shoot the numbers in order to turn them Odd and destroy them! But watch out! Some numbers have pesky shields that require different weapons!

You have 3 weapons to choose from:

+1: Adds 1 to the number it hits (Good base attack, but useless against shields!)

x2: Doubles the number (Helps rack up points quickly, assuming you live)

/2: Divides the number by 2 (Effective at cancelling out those x2 shields!)

Controls:

[AD] - Move Left and Right

[Space] - Fire

[QE] - Change Weapon

Author's Notes :D

This  was not only our first time submitting a project for a game jam, but also our first time actually finishing a project! Maybe next time we'll actually be done within the three hours xD. Feel free to comment with any critiques (or compliments!) you have about the game. Feedback is always appreciated. We hope you enjoy!

fun game!

the sound is louder in the left ear which is a bit annoying

the weapons are a bit unintuitive but once you understand how they work the game actually gets really fun (as long as you dont use the 2x). the 2x is completely broken since you can just spam it on one number and get billions of points (or even go over the int limit and make the number disappear)

also, the credits say there's music but i don't hear any, might be a bug?

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I was worried me being a math nerd was artificially boosting the fun i was having with the game lol.

I had a lot of mixed feelings about the x2 weapon tbh. There originally was going to be a /2 shield that required the *2 to counter, but i was trying to push this game out asap XD. I also found the risk/reward of trying to get a super high number pretty enjoyable, but in hindsight i probably should've capped the amount a number can go to!

As for the sounds i have no idea. I was very touch-and-go with them. Ill give myself more time for test-runs next time so i can properly address everything :D
